College Football 24-25: Week 13 Review
Conference Title Games- What We Know Now
ACC- SMU clinched their spot in the ACC title game on Saturday by demolishing Virginia. If Miami beats Syracuse next week, they'll be the second team. If Miami loses, Clemson will slide in to face the Mustangs in Charlotte.
Big Ten- Oregon is the final undefeated team in the country after watching idly as the rest of the undefeated teams fell. They'll likely face Ohio State in the conference title game after the Buckeyes beat Indiana handily in a battle of conference unbeaten on Saturday. Should the Buckeyes falter in The Big One against Michigan, Penn State would be next in line, assuming they win their finale against Maryland. If both Ohio State and Penn State lose, Indiana gets in with a win over Purdue.
Big 12- Saturday created absolute chaos in the Big 12. Colorado lost to Kansas and Arizona State beat BYU, creating a four-team tie atop the conference between the three teams and Iowa State at 6-2. Here is how the four teams could make it
1. Arizona State clinches the top spot in the conference with a win against Arizona
2. Iowa State clinches at least the second spot in the conference with a win against Kansas State
3. BYU needs to win against Houston and have Arizona State OR Iowa State lose
4. Colorado needs to win against Oklahoma State and have two of the other three teams lose
SEC- Ole Miss and Alabama played themselves out of the title game by losing on Saturday, and Texas A&M did a good job of doing the same by losing in 4OT to Auburn. This week's big winner appears to be Georgia, who clinched their spot in the conference title game with everyone else losing. They'll meet the winner of the Texas-Texas A&M game next week in Atlanta.
AAC- Amy and Tulane clinched their spots in the AAC title game last week.
MWC- Boise State is already comfortably in the conference title game after completing a perfect conference slate with a tough win over Wyoming. Their opponent is still TBD with Colorado State dropping its first conference game to Fresno State. The Rams still have UNLV to contend with for the final spot. The two didn't meet this season, so tiebreakers will likely determine second place.
C-USA- Jacksonville State will host the C-USA title game in two weeks after beating Sam Houston on Saturday. Sam Houston joins Liberty and Western Kentucky, who met on Saturday with Liberty emerging victorious, at 5-2 in conference play, setting up a fun final week.
1. Liberty gets in with a win (beat both Sam Houston and Western Kentucky)
2. Sam Houston gets in with a win and a Jacksonville State win over Western Kentucky (6-2 vs. 5-3)
3. Western Kentucky gets in with a win and a Liberty loss to Sam Houston (beat Sam Houston, 6-2 vs. 5-3 Liberty)
MAC- We know little about the MAC title game as three teams sit tied at 6-1. Everything seems to be coming down to Miami (OH) and Bowling Green's meeting next week. The winner is into the conference title game. Ohio would just need to beat Ball State to join one of the other two. If Ohio loses, the only way they don't make it is if Bowling Green beats Miami (OH) since the Bobcats lost to the RedHawks.
Sun Belt- It remains "Win and You're in" for both Marshall and Louisiana next week. Both sit one game ahead in their divisions, so the objective is clear for both.
