Team of the Week- Florida Panthers
It's easy to choose a Team of the Week when one goes 4-0-0. The Panthers were perfect as they prepared for a short West Coast swing next week. Their week began with overtime wins over Columbus and Washington before they handled Carolina in an Eastern Conference Finals rematch and beat Chicago to close it out. They got scoring from everywhere, led by Sam Reinhart's ten points. They tied for the league lead with 18 goals and killed 90% of their penalties. Sergei Bobrovsky was in the net for all four games, allowing him to take the league lead with eight wins. It'll be interesting to see how they follow it up as they head west for a tough trip.

Disappointing Team of the Week- New York Islanders
It was a two-horse race between Nashville and New York, and while Nashville struggled to keep pucks out of the net, their offense helped ease the blow a little. The Islanders, a team known for being stout defensively, struggled on both ends in their three games this week. Granted, they did play a tough schedule, but five goals in three games isn't good. Their losses to Minnesota, Boston, and Washington were all multi-goal losses. Noah Dobson was the only Islander to score two points, helping him stay atop the team lead. New York is 0-3-1 in their last four, and like Florida, they're about to head west.

Surprising Team of the Week- Pittsburgh Penguins
After a 3-6-0 start, the Pittsburgh Penguins have started to turn the ship around. They faced a tiny scare when Tristan Jarry left Tuesday's game against Anaheim, but Magnus Hellberg relieved him and stopped 11 shots in the third period to preserve a 2-0 shutout win. After Hellberg helped earn two more points in a 4-3 overtime win over Los Angeles, Jarry capped the week with a shutout victory against Buffalo. Pittsburgh's three goals allowed were the fewest allowed this week. Offensively, the team's stars shined. Erik Karlsson led the way with five points, with Sidney Crosby close behind with four. This coming week is a tough one for Pittsburgh, with a meeting against New Jersey, then a weekend back-to-back against Carolina and Vegas.

Three Stars of the Week
3rd Star- Connor Bedard (CHI)- 4 goals, 2 assists in 2 games
The hype train keeps moving down the track for Connor Bedard during his rookie campaign. Bedard recorded back-to-back multi-goal games against Tampa Bay and Florida this week. His two goals in Tampa were part of a four-point game as the Blackhawks defeated the Lightning. Bedard leads all rookies with nine goals and 13 points.

2nd Star- Kyle Connor (WPG)- 5 goals, 3 assists in 3 games
It was another solid week for the Jets, thanks to the work of Mark Schiefele and Kyle Connor. Both tied for second in the league with eight points, but I'm choosing to highlight Connor for his five goals, which led the lead. Three goals came in their win over Nashville on Thursday, the fifth hat trick of his career.

1st Star- Sam Reinhart (FLA)- 3 goals, 7 assists in 4 games
The Panthers' hot week wouldn't have been possible without Sam Reinhart's outstanding efforts. Along with leading his team in points this season, Reinhart led the league with ten points last week and tied for the league in assists with Scheifele. He had multi-point games in all four wins, capped by a four-point performance against Chicago on Sunday.

My Top 16 (* denotes a new entry)
16. Winnipeg Jets (7-5-2, 2-1-0 last week) (-)
15. Pittsburgh Penguins (7-6-0, 3-0-0 last week) (+12)*
14. Washington Capitals (7-4-2, 2-0-1 last week) (+5)*
13. Anaheim Ducks (8-6-0, 1-2-0 last week) (-2)
12. New Jersey Devils (7-5-1, 0-2-0 last week) (-7)
11. Colorado Avalanche (8-5-0, 1-2-0 last week) (-4)
10. Detroit Red Wings (8-5-2, 1-1-1 last week) (-)
9. Toronto Maple Leafs (8-5-2, 3-1-0 last week) (+6)
8. Florida Panthers (9-4-1, 4-0-0 last week) (+10)*
7. Carolina Hurricanes (9-6-0, 2-1-0 last week) (+2)
6. Los Angeles Kings (8-3-3, 1-1-1 last week) (+2)
5. Dallas Stars (10-3-1, 3-1-0 last week) (+1)
4. Vancouver Canucks (11-3-1, 3-1-0 last week) (-)
3. New York Rangers (11-2-1, 3-0-0 last week) (-)
2. Boston Bruins (11-1-2, 2-0-1 last week) (-)
1. Vegas Golden Knights (12-2-1, 1-1-0 last week) (-)

Another week, another lack of movement atop the rankings. I was tempted to swap Vegas and Boston after the Golden Knights lost their second game in regulation but withheld from doing so for now. The Rangers and Canucks also stayed put with nearly identical records. Dallas moved up a spot to round out the Top 5. Los Angeles and Carolina moved up two spots. The Hurricanes have started turning things around after a tough start to the season defensively. The Team of the Week Florida Panthers moved into the Top 10 after a perfect 4-0-0 week. Toronto is another team that has started looking like a cohesive group, riding a season-opening 15-game point streak by William Nylander. Detroit stayed at #10 after another even week. Colorado and New Jersey saw significant drops. The Avalanche fell victim to others, like Carolina, Florida, and Los Angeles, playing great. New Jersey lost both of its games in regulation, and the injury to Jack Hughes has not helped their situation. Anaheim fell back to Earth a little but saved their week with a win over the Sharks on Sunday. Washington and Pittsburgh both moved into the Top 16, with both starting to support their aging superstars. Winnipeg stays put at #16, but a few teams are knocking on the door to dethrone them.
